I wouldn't be surprised if they paid only for the games without DLCs. I mean, I can't think of a better way of allowing companies to earn money on their older games than giving us the game for free and suggesting those little DLCs... Especially if they happen to come with a tiny pricecut for PS+ subscribers. I know I've bought quite a few DLCs to games I'd never buy in the first place, had they not been given to me for free. It's a win-win situation as far as I see it.
