The console makers and publishers sure as hell love (over)hyping graphics and specs at the start of every generation, though. Mark Cerny speaks of "supercharged" components that work wonders for developers. MS has been adamantly fighting back against the narrative of the Xbox One being more expensive for less techncial punch. Then you have devs and publishers trotting out trailer after trailer showing off next-gen visuals, including the graphical engines' new capabilities specifically. This is the debate that the industry wants the consoles to be centered on. They've been doing the same thing since I was little. They can't keep overselling closed-off $400-500 boxes with low power draw and not expect to be called out on it. I say that having played on both PC and console for years, and enjoying plenty of games on both platforms. |
Same here. Console makers are purshing the word "graphics" as a selling point. But they should be pushing games. Now a days new consoles are just an updated console, nothing more. In past new consoles meant "excitement and fun factor" like Christmas gift. Now everything is blurred. Thanks (sarcasm) to smartphones.
