So, I bought DLC racer.  Eep.

And do you know what?  I don't hate it.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand & agree with the critical panning it got, but the game itself is alright.  It's Ridge Racer 7 on my Vita.  A content-stripped Ridge Racer 7, but the same base game nonetheless.

I'm kinda finding the upgrade system quite addictive too.  For the £5 (used) I picked it up for, it's alright.  And with the DLC, there's 9 tracks, which is only one less than WipEout which is my favourite racing game on Vita.  It's a shame they gave this game the DLC treatment; it would've been solidly received otherwise.

As a side note, we need more racing games on Vita.  I have WipEout; Need for Speed & now this.  I'm not interested in Asphalt; and I'm not too sure whether I'll try Sonic or Modnation.  That only leaves F1 and the Milestone Srl. games, really.  Maybe I'll have to check one of them out.

I'd love stuff like Grid 2 on Vita, but seems like a long-gone dream by this point.  Need for Speed Rivals would be great too, but with Criterion no longer helming I doubt that'll ever happen again.  Meh.  I guess I can play it through Remote Play :P

The mechanics are great fun. I mean, it's Ridge Racer. Riiiiidge Racerrrrrrr. But having the dumb online team stuff in place of a traditional campaign was, well, dumb. And due to the unique way Ridge Racer plays, ie that every car is going to take the same way round a track because of the 'on rails' drifting, 9 tracks just isn't enough. But like you I bought it for single digits and so it ended up being worth it.

Speaking of Wipeout...

Suck it vitachartz
