Are we restricted to renting just ONE item.

One dungeon could require Hookshot, bombs, bow and arrow and Hamer.  You are then forced to EXPENSIVELY rent all four items, or else to an easier dungeon that rewards you with one of those items thus you only have to rent 3/4 of the items.  Or you could do the dungeons in a certain order that allows you to not have to rent ever.

This method keeps the dungeon complexity, but allows you to jump to the multiple items required if you want as long as you have the ruppees to rent all the required items first.

I really don't want to get through the first room of a dungeon, then find out that I need a second item, go back to the shop and rent said item, return to the dungeon, get through another room or two, find out I need a third item, go back to the shop and get the third item, back to the dungeon, realize I need a fourth item, etc.

This also means you would have to grind for rupees if you want to do the dungeons out of order.

That sounds like horrendous game design. And if you can rent multiple items at once, what's the difference between renting and buying? And don't say the items will have a limited number of uses. That has been brought up and it's an equally terrible idea.
