I played two different demos of knack. The one where you have to stay small to get through the laser, and the 2nd demo was in the city and Knack was quite big throwing cars at helicopters and what not. I asked a Sony rep about the horrible framerate( and I mean REALLY bad, I could hear people whispering stuff like wtf is up with this game.) and he just said "aww, its probably cause its still in development" If I were Sony I would have turned that game off cause no one walked away impressed from that.

I'm trying to figure out which build you played. Tokyo Game Show has the newest build from the city level. It 's the same demo that was at E3 but a bit more polished and refined. All the vids i watched of Knack seems to have ran good so the framerate issue seems weird and i'm hoping it was just something going on with their set ups there(where ever the hell you played it lol)
