You arent alone. I got that too. Since it was MS a lot of Sony fans jumped on the hate wagon. Now that it is Valve they are lost on what to do. They really dont want to mess with PC fanboys. we will make every excuse they used to justify PS4 seem trivial and biased. Hating MS is the new thing to do to be cool. Hating Valve on the other hand isnt, Nor so much this site of course, wgile it does have its MS haters, they have to do so with reason or expect to be banned. |
You are absolutely correct. Now its cool to talk anti-microsoft. I wont deny that I didnt do the same thing.
But there is another thing I want to add. Its about perception of gamers (In marketing we call it as positioning, which is basically capturing a distinctive place in the consumers mind). When we think of consoles we perceive it as a device in which we can "put the game" and play. By putting the game in console we still understand getting physical games. When I was a kid I understood playing games means putting game cartiges in the console (SNES).
1) Here, me and general public understand consoles "mainly" play retail games and have no "restrictions".
2) Since its creation valve has established themselves as a digital distributor. There is DRM but valve allows us offline play. People are used to that and nobody complains about it.
Now come to present. Now everything is mixing up and new ideas are emerging. $60 games are now adopting microtransactions or games are released part by part (the walking dead). Thats why console manufacturers are also trying to adopt valve's model. But many people still perceive consoles as a device that can play physical games and without DRM. And rest of other people are joining the mainstream. Thats why many people hates microsoft. Its all about perception.
