You know you can run windows inside linux right?

I get what you're saying though.

But I disagree. This is the awesomest thing on the horizon for me. They are just.too.smart to fuck up anything. Betting on Valve is always a good idea.

so why not just run windows with steam installed, that way you aren't running a virtual windows that may not funtcion as well. seems like if windows is still wanted that would be the easier smarter way. so again this steam machine is kind of useless. as a steam user i see no need for it. do you use steam?

Windows is NOT wanted.

I actually don't use my steam account at all. I live with 2 game dev dudes who buy steam sale games all the time. Another of my friends (an epic programmer -trust me) basically worships Gabe. I've sat through enough arguments with them trying to fish out why Valve is so awesome, and being open minded, they've convinced me 100%.

So I do make use of steam a lot in other words. We play games in our living room on tv with xbox controllers and they destroy the xbox/ps3 we have there also. I've also really fallen in love with indie games. People who hate on indies (there's a lot of them here) don't know what the fuck they're talking about (I mean it).

Basically, in my opinion MS would've done what Valve is doing if they didn't reverse all their policies. Except that the steambox won't be a closed box. I.e. I'm going to put a Titan inside mine

yeah, I hate windows. (on it right now though - BLEH)

so people who hate windows will ove this. yes thats true. but that is the same reason it wont be a game changer. you already hated windows, this did nothing to change your opinion. the average consumer will use what prevailant and easy and cheap. valve with the steam box doesnt cover those bases. they may be easy, but probably not as easy as a console, they be cheap, but will probably have different price levels so only some will be cheaper, i doubt they will be more prevailant than the big three as vavle has no good means on distribution yet. so just not a game changer. but great for peopl who hate windows (why hate something inamate i dont know).

Edit: in 10 years all people will be using is their cell phones. no need for dedicated devices when a cell phone hooked to a screen will do the same things wi th the same power (almost at least). at least thats how i see the futre, the fight is between iOS, android, and windows 8, of which steam will be supported in all three (i hope atleast, just waiting on android support)
