"Just imagine the new possibilities for packaging and marketing."
Not the most compelling argument for new technology I've heard. I think I'll go for the box of cereal that isn't charging me the cost of an OLED display with every box. I don't care how cheap they are, there's no way they're cheaper than cardboard, and they add no value once the novelty factor wears off.
The problem with a hypothetical future of ubiquitous displays is the same problem we have with public displays now: They can only tells us what they want to say, they can't tell us what we want to know. There's a crossover point in that Venn diagram, but the power of the internet and mobile revolutions is that they empower people to get the information they want, when they want it, rather than being subject to the information that another party wishes to broadcast.
