good tech with poor execution doesn't mean the idea isn't still disruptive.
...wii was still disruptive even though motion controls had been done on several platform from both nintendo and sony. but the wii did it well.
onlive's big problem was is didn't have a great library. the games were only multiplats, often times late, and not even all of them. there was very little reason for me (as a console owner) to move there. sony's biggest strength is not just having the tech but also having an established audience and a (i believe) a transition plan to get that established audience to use the service.
we'll see if it works but i think what sony is doing with gaikai could change everything if executed well.
