It is kind of shitty when done through component cables (doesn't work with DVD-ROMS (web-enabled DVD's) and burned DVD's). With HDMI it does everything beautifully, including 1080p upscaling, just fine. They even said they might make upscaling even better in the future.

 so it dosent play burned dvd at all? b/c to get a ps3 i will have to swing it as a blu ray player to the wife 

It does, I haven't tried on Components, but it does on HDMI.
