Yet your buying 4 AMD R9 290X at likely $500. I don't think price is the culprit.

The 290X should be about $750-$800ish each here (Same launch price as the 7970), which should be very competitive to Titan, which here is $1,200 - $1,300 each, you do the math. :)
That extra $1,200+ is better in my pocket than some overseas company.
