well they said at TGS that the point of using real names instead of screen names was to lure in the "casuals". i think they also said a long time ago that they wanted to make a "gamers social network" when one could "nerd out" about their love of gaming without the stigma many gamers feel on other networks.
..i'm not really excited for this but i will appreciate some of the features like video sharing. i very much agree with sony that i'm pretty reluctant to post gaming related things on facebook.
