What I don't get is that Microsoft is touting around that everyone should get GTAIV on the Xbox360 because of the huge exclusive DLC content it will get.

Won't you need a hardrive to actually download that content or did I miss something ??

well then u go to the store and buy a $60 20g harddrive :D

Not sure where they are $60. They cost $90 on newegg.

But the cost is not the point. Developers do not have the ability to rely on a HD when designing games. For example, one of the really cool things about Dungeon Siege is it streamed the level in the background as you played. From start to end there was never a load screen. It definitely helped immerse you in the game. It would be near imposable without a HD. Also, if I had the choice to extend my optical drives life by loading more game data from the HD, I am going to take that option each time. Lastly, a very large percentage of consoles sold by MS have a HD, so not giving developers the ability to rely on one hurts most MS customer. If a large % of cores/arcades sold, I would say it was an option that really catered to the market. In the end however, it didn’t happen that way.

I don’t know why anyone would want to defend MS here. All it means is you get worse games.

In my book, better games > any game company
