Doesn't really mean a lot. Simply because Valve is not as big as Sony or Microsoft, so they are most likely going to be selling this at a profit, while Sony and MS won't feel to bad about losing a little bit if they think they can make it back. So like what the article says while this may be more powerful, it'll probably cost more. In which case you are probably better off with PC, unless Steambox does something else?

....ehhh

While Valve isn't as big, they're sitting on a lot more profit than Sony is.  They could afford a loss leading console a lot easier.

Hmmm, maybe you're right.  I don't know much about financials.  Aside from my lack of knowledge, it seems to be difficult to find any actual numbers for Valve, the best that can be pulled off are estimates varying widely for the value of the company.

That's because they're privately owned, they don't have to release financial info.

What is known is that they make way more moey per person than google or apple.

They're essentially all profit and no cost... well outside this box anyway.  Which I doubt they're even planning to do Xbox numbers with at first.

Gabe Newell might be the most "secretly" rich guy out there.
