I think 6 years. Nintendo was slow to get their money software out with Wii U. Very slow really compared to any previous launch. So combined with the fact that they were the first console out this gen, I'd say at least 6 years so they can move enough boxes and get out at least one version of every franchise and make the money they want.

I think something new may be coming before Wii U is done though, a new "3rd pillar" if you will, like the DS launched along side the GB. A tablet, a console/handheld hybrid, something unusual. It will supplant the 3DS, but possibly also Wii U in some way without being the true successor to Wii U. That successor will then come later.
