Japan only accounted for less than 10% of console sales this gen. I really don't get why in 2013 they are still considered so meaningful. Even Sony isn't launching there due to a lack of interest from Japanese developers early on.

I'm not saying to ignore the market, but they seem to get FAR more attention than the UK but the console sales are almost identical. Isn't about time to categorize Japan as an "Other"?

Why? We get concrete data for Japan, so why not count it directly? Plus, the market is pretty unique (a lot of Japanese-only games and the like) so I think the charts are interesting.

UK does get its own charts too. I don't see the problem.

This is at TGS, though, and as far as I know, the UK has no equivalent to that.

Sorry, I guess I should've been more clear.  I wasn't referring to the tracking, so using term "Other" wasn't the best approach.  I was referring more to news reporting and forum attention as far as it's overall importance to sales.

As others have mentioned, yes handhelds are big in Japan, but this thread is talking about the PS4 and X1.
