No no no. The cloud WILL NOT make single player games run better. Also Forza isn't even using the cloud for graphics; no game will. All it's doing is hosting user profiles on the cloud, that's it. If your xbone never touches the internet except the initial patch, Forza will look identical to Forza with the cloud.

Actually it would if that game utilizes the cloud processing. The game can have the graceful degradation if their internet stutters or goes offline, or offer a slightly degraded version if no internet available at all.

There is no requirement for games to be multiplayer only in order to utilize the Cloud...

Cloud processing is really only useful in multiplayer. I mean there's nothing technically stopping Bethesda from using the cloud in Skyrim 6 to control NPCs, but that's just not going to happen.

I feel like all you people have your heads in the clouds with what you expect to be offloaded to servers.

Likewise, I feel like all you naysayers have your brains stuck in yesterday with what you expect.

Don't use absolutes about situations you know nothing about, that's all I'm saying. If MS make their dev tools easily handle the Internet vs No Internet transitions or the like, taking that work away from individual developers, there would be no reason NOT to use cloud processing. I think in 2-3 years time, when all the drivers are fully tuned and developers have had plenty of time to familiarize with the environments, we'll start to see more and more usage of these features and others.

Now I'm not saying I expect the Cloud Processing vs No Cloud Processing to produce major differences, but it could produce subtle ones. Perhaps making the difference between 30 and 60 fps, or slightly improved textures, or a few extra on screen elements, etc. I don't think we'll see it causing MAJOR differences until years 5+, if not even later until years 8-10+.

For reference, the internet speeds available to me since the start of Xbox Live on the original Xbox have gone from 256Kb/s to 50+Mb/s in roughly 12 years. That's a 200x improvement in internet bandwidth for my area! So let's not all act like we have any idea what technology will be like in the next 5-10 years, agreed? :)
