That's a misconception that pervades the internet apparently^ It well outpaces last generation. If it didnt the quick and dirty ports would look even worse. Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper is a literal code dump ( absolutely nothing was done with it)

The WiiU's price is what it is because of how they built it, its an extremely compact, customized design, shit they even went with their method of storage, because it creates less heat and draws less power, with a significantly lower fail rate than other types of memory. (Its also rather expensive hence the 32 gb offered)
Sony is taking a loss on their hardware sure, but its because of what they bundle in the box. ( which is why they expect to make good on it very quickly)
