Videogames offer an experience that doesn't really translate to any other medium. Games are interactive in the way other forms aren't. For those unfamiliar, it is hard to explain to them. You can get an immersive experience, that is unique in it. It will usually involve moving a character that isn't you, so it isn't like an escape fantasy either.
I am also curious why you think it is your duty to try to explain it to the world.
