What if the time limit is like 20 or 30 minutes?  What limit would be too short, what limit would be long enough?  I'm sure all the covenants will have advantages/disadvantages when it comes to the multiplayer.

They went from a main server in demons souls to many smaller ones in dark souls.  It did suck bc of how hard it was to coop with players u knew.  However, if they had one main server at launch it would have been overflooded with players.  There would have been soul signs everywhere.  Demons souls never had as many players playing at the same time as dark souls.  I'm interested in how they address this in dark souls 2.

assuming regions are about the same size as in DS i'd say clear time of about 30 mintues is needed. 

god, if i was co-oping and got kicked during the boss fight i'd fucking fly out to japan just to kick someones ass.
