Another strike against going fully digital.

The GTA 5 psn release already had problems enough with the 18gb download, leaving some users with a corrupt install.
Earlier Rockstar advised against installing both discs on 360, now Digital foundry has also confirmed that the psn digital version performs worse then the disc based release. The same streaming issues in a game optimized to use both hdd and optical drive.

Taking the PSN route to Los Santos turns out to be hardly convenient or cheap, nor the most technically refined way to play the game. In our experience playing from a newer Western Digital 500GB HDD the results proved less glaring, suggesting faster drives may yield improved performance, but if you'd rather sidestep the issue altogether then we'd recommend sticking to the retail Blu-ray copy.

What does this mean for openworld games next gen. Both consoles get faster CAV drives, better suited to gaming, but are also going to ignore those extra resources by doing full disk installs. Seems like a waste to me.
