The timing is coincidental, I'll give you that...but maybe he wasn't expecting to actually have to use that much space. Also, can you give me a source for the whole Sony forcing him thing?

Is already posted two times in this thread, a fan asked him at comi con and he replied that... that was in 2006...

Ah, well, like it's been said, he hesitated about saying the word "forcing". Sony might be playing a part in it, but it makes me think he was considering it already without being "forced". This idea doesn't make Sony any less dispicable, but maybe he wasn't forced...but "financed".

I think he meaned forced in the sense of using prerendered videos @ 1080p just to promote the need of the bluray, the hd, and the power of the cell, rather than just use the game engine for the videos, and save a ton of space and money...

Well, like you guys have said. Neither the 360 or PS3 have the power to render 1080p graphics with great motion as well as handle other things. All cutscenes rendered in-game do is save space...if they're just cutscenes to watch and "Ooo!" at, why not have them prerendered at a full quality high resolution? I believe even with latest technology, anti-aliasing still isn't enough in getting rid of "jaggies" well enough to be just as good as something prerendered.

Still, making out something to be in-game and have it be prerendered doesn't keep my trust as well.

As far as I can remember Kojima used the game engine for all the videos in the last three games, why the suddenly change??? I can think about the game been the last one, and all that stuff, but the press for Sony and the PS3,CELL,BR makes more sense... maybe Sony is putting a lot of money in those cut-scenes...
