The problem of being a mod, at least that's how I see it, is that you no longer can avoid the trolls, discussions and/or problems of the site. Instead, you must search those behaviors and the users behind them to keep the site as clean as possible, and that's not the best way to employ your free time. Even less when most will always critizice your decisions.
And hell no to vote mods! It doesn't matter how good your intentions are, in the end, the more popular will get positive votes and the hated ones will get the negative ones. And with the amount of fanboys that are on the site, the popularity will not be based on how good or bad they do their job.
Please excuse my bad English.
