If resolution was such a deciding factor for people, those people should just go and buy a high end pc.
People can complain about the price all they want but you essentially get what you pay for, if you want to choose how a game runs, at what resolution it runs, and at what framerate then it is the only option to consider.
1440p120f is something even the generation after the one coming will probably fail to achieve, yet can be achieved right now on a pc.
For consoles however, one thing completely overlooked in this topic is motion, in fast paced games no AA can look much better overall delivering a crisp image whereas an upscaled image with aa moving fast can look muddy, additionally motion blur can go a long way towards hiding "creepers" in aliasing.
Given that both of the new consoles have the tech available to implement some form of antialiasing without causing a massive hit to overall performance though this is pretty much a non issue, and i am willing to bet that if ryse was releasing in 3 years time, it would probably have been hitting 1080p30 comfortably.
