It most certainly is not a real 3D Mario game. This does not mean the game will be bad in any way,but it holds no comparison to 64, sunshine, and galaxy 1+2. Instead, it pays homage to the recently released 3D Land. I really think that the fact there aren't stars at the end is a clear indication. Real 3D Mario games focus more heavily on exploration (although that has decrease significantly) and on Mario himself. The reason this game exists is because the developers wanted to expand on the single experience of 3D Land into a more multiplayer experience (and perhaps help out the Wii U). If 3D World is considered a real 3D Mario game, then so should 3D Land, something that nobody even considered once that game released.
