MK64: great graphics, awesome multiplayer, fun gameplay, no story or one player mode, difficult game.
CTR: fun tracks, tons of shortcuts, lots of replay value, great story mode, poor graphics, lack of tracks.
To compare these games would be like comparing street fighter and king of fighters. Even though CTR is a imitation of mario kart, it has enough of a unique feel and gameplay experience to set it self apart.
