no,devs target parity due to economical reasons.

Why invest more when you can get away by doing nothing.(expect a more solid framerate and a little better AA,at best some better lighning or shadowing -things that can be done pretty cheap and easy)

 


360 usually ran multiplats better than PS4 though. So how do you explain that?

 

I agree somewhat with your overall claim.

 

But in the flip side, the smallest difference will be magnified  on message boards "what? PS4 renders two more pixels???? PS4 BLOW AWAY XBOX ONE VERSION" etc.


Well-just take a look at xbox(real 1).Was more powerfull than ps2 but most developers ignored that.Ignoring mor Ram etc,just using better AA.As Anti Aliasing was bad/non existing on ps2 it made look xbox signifivantly better jst by using AA.How much more power the first xbox had could be seen in "Roddick".The only ps2 that could compete with the quality of the best looking xbox games was God of war2.

 

Ps3 vs 360 was a plattform thing.The 360 was leading plattform.had a better gpu and a more common archtecture.

Also Multiplattformerdevs ignored the "more power" of the cell ship.

Consiedering the real power of ps3 vs 360 the situation is similar to xbox  vs ps2:

The only 360 game that could compete in graphical terms with UC2/3,tlou,gow3 is halo4.

 

Considering the smallest differenece:It does not matter which console is able to render 1/2 pixel more in an hour.The one that is able to do so

will be supergod faster than light Zeus and the other one will just be lousy 2nd hand peasant semigod half human hercules.And both parties will try to trash the wii u.

 

According to some threads here the xbox1 is supposed to have a second secret gpu -the race for the superior console throne has not come to an end.
