That's exactly my point from the original post. That was the fan rumour for months and Sony let it spread far and wide before correcting it.

That's reaching at best, since most chatter about the PS4 doesn't come from fans, or Sony, but devs. Besides, Microsoft has let things pass recently, too - look how long it took for them to admit the dGPU wasn't real. If you call one out, call them all out. It's not exclusive to anyone.

I don't recall any dev making those claims, it was full fan assumptions. And were talking months here before an official statement, as opposed to days for this recent xbox rumour.
