Besides the curiosity factor, some fanboys can take a hint from this thread:

Look at how the calculation speed isn't directly proportional to the GHz in each CPU. Sometimes a processor with less GHz can even outperform one with more. Keep that in mind the next you're blindly spouting off numbers from hardware specs as if they proved anything.

Actually it's very fair, since not all tasks can take advantage of multithreading. I don't know what algorithm they're using in this program, but it could well be one which can't take much (or any) advantage from parallelism.
