Being simply compatible is one thing but I would have very much preferred Sony made it DualShock 4 compatible only, even if this meant shipping the controller out early for Japan. This makes the UI and touch interface less impenatrable and reinforces a brand and vision of a united PlayStation family, while also making sure there will be a lot of DS4 circulation for the next 5-10 years.

If it comes West, it might well ship with a DS4 as standard here. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Sony are probably wanting to clear out unused DS3 components with this as no doubt PS3 shipments will start to reduce now.
