Everyone knows that most people wouldn't be able to afford a console that is a major leap in power and graphics, but these consoles are not a minor leap in graphics either. They are about as powerful as a high powered PC which means they will last three years before they truly get pushed. The great thing about consoles is you get to ease yourself into gaming and amass a unique library of published games from the east and west, whilst enjoying entertainment and online gaming with your friends. Not saying PC doesn't have these things, but its just not the same.

Why do people keep saying that the consoles are equivalent to a high powered PC? They're not. It's a mix of Mid/low-range stuff.

Umm no. Next consoles are usually around close high end PC at first, just slightly lower maybe (Remember oblivion pn PC and console at launch? Very similar), then over time PC widens the gap. yes, you can get an enthusiast PC that will be a lot more powerfull, but no one makes games to utilize such a small part of the market. Graphics look more then good enough for it to be much of a concern now.

How many people have PC's that can out perform a dedicated box with 8 GB GDDR5 ram, and a unified architecture? Not many, also consider PC's have a lot more overhead so a PC would need higher specs to run the game at the same pace. yes PC's can obviosuly more powerfull, but that is hardly the whole story.
