I can appreciate games like Call of Duty and its clones, but I'm not really a fan of this style. In my opinion, Unreal Tournament is the best shooter series.
Titanfall, while being a Call of Duty clone, looks great. Like Zampella stated "It’s taking the old paradigm of these shooter games being very grounded and two-dimensional and now adding this verticality to it and making it something that’s a new experience; something that people haven’t seen before.”
Although one more thing I will say is that the "verticality" that people haven't seen before is because people have completely ignored games like Unreal Tournament. In Unreal Tournament, even the "okay" people are going to be frequently using side jumps, wall jumps, and other techniques.
