I get that the Xbox One isn't just a gaming device, but an all around media device, however the people buying it for 500 dollars on day one aren't the ones this commercial is targeting. I'm just wondering if there is a demand for a $500 (plus tax) device like this for hardcore football fans especially considering they have already been doing these things with TV and a computer/smartphone for a lot cheaper than the Xbox One is offering. It offers convenience by being an all-in-one type deal, yes, but at the same time not really. You would still need a subscription with a cable provider, a subscription to gold, a t.v. and have to pay 500 dollars for a device that does what you can already do. At that point, why not just stick with what you have?

There's no doubt though that with their partnership with the NFL they will be able to pump out their logo and name more than their competition and that's always a good thing, but I'm not sure if this commercial was aimed at the right audience. And I'm really looking foward to seeing how the partnership pays off for them.

You're right absolutely right.  This commercial isn't for the people that have already pre-ordered the Xbox One for $500 so they can have it on Day One.  Because those people have already made a commitment to purchase the Xbox One.  The person this advertisement is for is for an affluent older male.  Someone educated, with a career, a steady, well-paying job, that enjoys football a lot.

So, you don't think it's easier to just say Xbox: Snap Fantasy League while you're watching the fricken game to bring up the your player stats?  To you it's easier to go, run and get your computer, or grab your smartphone, take your attention away from the TV, miss the game winning play, to review your league info?  Sure.

There is a segment of the population that I imagine will like this.  While I have one brother in-law that is too frugle to spend money on this, I have another that would very likely do so, considering their DVD player just died and they're surviving on an ancient VHS/DVD player.

I know if my niece found out that the Xbox One had Skype on it, her parents wouldn't be able to get her to stop using it.  I'm certain the only reason she doesn't use it on her phone is because she isn't aware that it's available.
