Of course this is all opinion, but I found Dead Rising's series great games. The story is great, (though cheesy sometimes) gameplay is solid, killing soundtrack and relatively nice graphics (though sucky performance sometimes). You just talked about one of the things you can do, which is screwing around, but there's just more to it: getting to where you're supposed to go (in order to keep moving forward in the story), saving survivors (or killing them), changing clothes, mixing weapons (introduced in the second game), defeating bosses and discovering secret areas and scenes. The game gives a great value, but I can understand why some people can't stand the gameplay (zombies mess with you way too much since there are a lot in screen, which reduces the flow of the gameplay, and the timer). I, for example, are more hyped for DR3 than for Deep Down, and it's not a matter of because one is exclusive to the console I'll own, but just that I enjoy and love the series.

Even though I have no interest in it because I didn't like the main game in the others, I can say one thing I do like about DR3 than what I've heard about Deep Down. There's a single player game in DR3 while people have been saying Deep Down is online only. If Deep Down is online similar to Demon's Souls where other people can jump in your game and attack you, then that's fine with me. If it still remains a single player game with a unique multiplayer added to it, then that's cool. I loved that about Demon's Souls.
I'm interested in The Division and Destiny, but I really don't want all games to end up pushing the online aspect as much as these games are. Because even if these games are on disc, you'll lose about 50% of the game or more when noe one plays the online anymore. Not too many people are going to be interested in Deep Down, so online only will just hold the game back.
