| Anfebious said: With all the gloom and doom it seems that Nintendo is crashing down, or so people say. The pressure from smartphones and tablets are said to be the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo's handheld. Also the Wii U is doing very bad... So when is this going to happen? When is is that Nintendo will die for good? And what would you doo if it was true? Personally I wouldn't spend as much money on gaming... I would slowly quit gaming forever. |
Your premise is incorrect. The fact is, Nintendo is in absolutely no danger of dying. Besides the fact that they have a market capitalization of over $15 billion, they also have somewhere between $8-$10 billion in cash on hand, not to mention the fact that 3DS sales are actually up year over year, and that's before the new model revision comes to market in October, along with a new Pokemon and Zelda.
Not to mention we are two weeks away from a significant Wii U price drop and bundled with a Zelda game, before the start of the holiday season.
Trust me, if Nintendo were in any danger, I would be the first to say so. But you can't let alarmists worry you. Those types are speaking only of short-term gains they want to see the company make, they care nothing for the long-term competitiveness of the company. Which is something that would be negatively impacted by allowing their IP on others' platforms. Nintendo has to make money from hardware and software combined, the company we all know and love would cease to exist as we know it, if they stopped making hardware.
