"I would say The Last of Us beats it in almost every aspect, but I would give the slight edge in story to Walking Dead. Just a bit better though, not really anything that makes a huge difference.
The voice acting, the gameplay, the graphics etc are all better in the Last of Us. Of course this is my opinion and I'm a Naughty Dog fanboy so...yeah."
I actually preferred the story in TLOU to be honest. I felt that the characters where more believable as were their motivations. In TLOU you are made to feel that what happened could actually happen since it is backed up with scientific explanation. I thought that TLOU was less predictable as well. That game continously surprised me and I couldn't put the game pad down. As much as I enjoyed TWD I couldn't play 2 episodes back to back yet I played TLOU for 6 hours straight on each playthrough and had to force my self to turn off the console, sometimes playing through the night until 8am. TLOU is definitely the best game I have played and is my favourite. I Suspect it will get GOTY. It's definitely my GOTY so far. I'm looking forward to GTA5 but I don't imagine feeling the same connection to the characters or being as engrossed in the story as I was with TLOU since they will be 2 very different types of game.
