Bingo.. Corporations don't have emotions, and thus cannot apologize. They are simply trying to save face and thus possibly gain some sales, because they saw the backlash from the heavy use of DRM and basically taking rights away from the consumers. Even though they've largely corrected the situation, I'm still not buying Xbone on principle, based mainly off the fact that they thought they could push this on consumers in the first place. The other reason is price.. I may not get a PS4 either, but I'd be far more likely to buy one than I ever would an Xbone.. And this is coming from a big 360 fan, who has purchased several dozen games for the console over the years.
