I don't think you understand how incredibly popular the PS4 is. He is saying for this year, correct? The PS4 already had over 1 million pre orders with 3 months left to launch and that number will continue to grow. 

Don't you think you're overhyping the PS4?  Over 1,000,000 pre orders doesn't mean it will sell 5m+ from launch until Jan 1st.
The 2DS debut will be next month with Pokemon.  The 3DS will no doubt sell a collective of at least 7m between the 2DS launch and Jan 1st.  5m is the absolute highest I would say the PS4 can go, given the limitations of manufacturing and shipment.  The 2DS CAN outsell the PS4, but I would NOT put my money on it.  

I'm sure it can happen, but theres like a 0.0001% chance of it happening. Like you said, 3DS will sell at least 7M which means more than half of those sales need to come from the 2DS (If the PS4 sells 5M). I highly doubt that will happen.
