Do you really think there will be another 500$ worth of dGPU in Xbone along with their APU/Kinet and other hardware they have revelead so far? Nobody is bringing the price of the console in this rumour, if its included. Already they have kinect which is worth of atleast 100-150$ which leaves for 350-400$ for dGPU and other Xbone hardware, so its seems impossible for them to include and also in the late cycel just before one month. What I expect from microsoft is that about their co-processors and kinect hardware being used in games for some more raw power in cleaver way(programmmatically, their power is directx) other than this i don't expect any dGPU from them. |
How many times do I have to say this..? Price is already included. By Microsoft's account, the Kinect has military grade technology in it. And they said..."It costs almost as much to make as the actual Xbox One."
You are assuming on your preconcieved notions that the dGPU is gonna cost other worldly and ADD to the cost. Let me spell it out for you. It. Will. Not.
Not only will it not, the reason it will not is a hell of a smooth move by Microsoft. Microsoft co-designed the APU for the Xbox One with AMD. What does that mean? That mean's Microsoft has a say in price. They put 3 billion into developing the console along with whatever AMD put in. They (Microsoft) put in most of the money. Now, this APU + dGPU chipset by AMD is WAY cheaper than normal chips because it is not seperate. It is CPU + GPU + dGPU on the same chip. All on the same chip. It cut's price significantly. This is why Microsoft can say they will either break even or make a profit and not take a loss at launch. AMD will get their significantly smaller percentage per Xbox (not 80% like Nividia used to get). The APU is already cheap. The dGPU takes up the most cost. At most, you could say Microsoft will take a loss because of the Kinect. So total system will cost $400-$450 to make. The $100 to $50 will be profit for Microsoft.
