Is purchasing off of PlaystationStore safe?

I haven't purchased anything from the store before, but I don't see why it wouldn't be safe. It's Sony, and they have a reputation to keep. I mean, if it wasn't safe, people would be complaining all over the internet, and it would probably result in lawsuits.
