You know that what games are great or what aren't depends on your personal preferences. I never had problems with lack of quality software on Vita, but I still don't have 3DS because I can't justify buying a system for few 3rd party games that I would play on it.
Vita's problem isn't as much price as it's the popularity of tablets. Simply smartphones and tablets are "in", and handhelds are "out". Next to good cheap tablets that are slowly emerging like ASUS MeMo 7 HD, Acer Iconia A1, or of course ASUS Nexus 7 (2013), handhelds simply don't offer enough "value" to potential consumers.
The market has changed, and is changing. 3DS and Vita are already heavily outdated, when compared to last years tablets...
