What was wrong with it? The only viable complaint I can think of is when your AI companion would run into enemy AI and they wouldn't detect them, but that was a developer decision. I think the stealth is incredible, especially when you have to sneak by clickers. One of the most intense moments I have ever experienced in a game. Sound was all the way up and it was scary as hell.

Totally agree, the clickers being sensitive to sound, made stealth an intense affair., the slightest mistake and you had to scramble.  The stealth and everything about that game is top notch.

*Sneaking past a Clicker*

Character: HEY GUYS WE SHOULDN'T TALK OR THEY WILL HEAR US!

*Footstep footstep footstep*

*Clicker is totally not listening*

Maybe it's nitpicking, but I found it hilarious xD It was like...it wasn't natural. The game was more focused on you fighting than passing through without being noticed. At least during my gameplay, but shhhh. No spoilers, I haven't beaten it yet.

WTF? The game was clearly focused  on you sneaking past not the combat, there simply was not enough ammo to go guns ablazing, and the stealth approach was clearly  favoured. As for your complaint? You just described every stealth game ever made.

Footstep??? If you are sneaking yuo don't make any footstep sound, and they are whispering to each other, yes you are nitpicking, it's a game not real life.

Have you played on survivor mode? If you are close enough they will actually hear you no matter how slowly you are moving! It's frikking hard as fuck! You have to literally stand still until they walk away. It's a terrifying sight seeing a clicker right in front of you and the only thing you can do is just stand there hoping it doesn't move towards you.
