You're right that this particular device will not become a huge success. That's because those are not "VR headsets" as the thread title claims (apparently, the thread starter falsely believed this to the PS4 VR headset); they are "Personal 3D Viewers" and are rather useless, especially considering the price tag. Pretty much all they offer is 3D, but hardly anyone will buy a 1300 pounds "Personal 3D Viewer" in times when you can buy a 50" 3DTV for less than one third of that price.
IF Sony will actually release something for the PS4, it will be...
- an actual VR headset (= it will have head tracking technology - "Personal 3D Viewers" without head tracking technology are rather pointless for gaming)
- cheaper
- at least several months until
