I was delighted when they introduced a very very very small rebate for having a certain gamerscore. Xbox 360 pioneered achievements for consoles so it would only make sense that they would make them even more relevant to gamers.

If I were them, I would make special awards for milestones like 50,000, 100,000 ect. A cool avatar award or a free game or something when you hit a big milestone that demonstrates your dedication to the system would be really nice ... just as Nintendo rewards those who reach certain milestones in number of games purchased in a year.

I suppose, people could just rent games, but if your gamerscore is over 100,000 and you have not purchased a few games, DLC and arcade titles along the way I would be very surprised.

Good ideas.

Can you imagine if they they let you chose between some special rifel in Halo, a free game or some other custom thing?  People would go nuts working on their gamerscore.

And I saw, there are some people near 1 million, not sure if they have made it yet.

I would be happy even with just a avatar t-shirt that says 150,000 (my current goal) or whatever on it. Free games and DLC would be even better.

You talking about Stallion83? He is at 923,000 gamerscore right now and wants to hit 1 million before Xbox One releases. They should make a statue of his avatar or something for the absurd amount of time, money and energy he has put into his 360. At the very least, they should name a special award or achievement after him or something.
