I think that when searching for the biggest launch in history, you shouldn't be looking at PS3 or X360, but at the good ol' PS2. I have no data, but that would be the first console I'd check :P

PS2 wasn't a huge seller like Wii, it just had longer legs. According to vgsales wiki, it sold 1.41m units in launch for first month but it was only available in Japan. The problem with staggered releases
