Why such a big difference in launch location?

I'm sure if MS didn't have any issue with production they should started the production months ago and set a early date for release... MS really tried to launch before Sony in US.

I myself have wondered if Sony will announce a Japan date at TGS, i suppose they know theres not a battle for preorders so they can announce late, but i still think it will be March 2014 now.
