This seems to be the continuation of M$ realizing they are now the small fish in the big pond of mobile(smartphones/tablets) computing. The high horse that they usually travel on has left the stable and they are scrambling to make sure they don't disappear.

The thing is, if this idea proves successful, MS will take and dust Apple and Google.

I would definitely buy a cell phone that is a part of the ecosystem of my other devices. I'll buy one game for all of them, download one app for all of them and communicate with all of them.

I agree.

I have an iphone that the contract runs out at the end of October.  I plan to replace it with a Windows phone of some type.  At work, I replaced my PC with a surface pro back in Feb.  It has worked awesome as a pc and awesome as a tablet when needed.  I can't wait to have one ecosystem that runs everything.
