The art WILL turn you off for a while and then you realize that he's just a genius in crafting intricate plots and the art later on helps to enhance that. I'd recommend starting with Kaiji if you're ever interested in his works. (Just make sure not to get confused and start with the 1st arc) the Majong ones are really hard to appreciate unless you know Majong. I really like hidden gems.
