Yeah eyetoy came out before wii, but it was a half assed attempt that noone cared about. It was Nintendo that pioneered motion controls and got people excited about it. If this takes off Sony will fit your definition of "pioneer", unless someone else beats them to it. The closest is oculus rift, but they still have a long way to go with the price, resolution, form/weight and we don't have a release date yet, so it's going to be awhile until it reaches a large market.
