AntiVirus: AVG free. Its just as good as a paid for system
Spyware: Common sense. If you didn't try to download/run it, then don't click it. You know deep down that hot women are NOT going to sleep with you if you click the ad . Or AVG anti-spyware is fairly good. Also use spyware blaster to stop common sources of crap.
Format: If you reload your PC every 30 days, you could run permanently on demo software, including Windows Vista.
